Hi Guys

I tried searching but I am not sure what I am searching for which makes it quite tricky. While out exploring over the weekend a warning light came on, and I have no idea what it means. And I am hoping somebody could point me in the right direction.

I have marked the light that came on.

Vehicle is a Nissan Safari y60 1988 (The 24V Japanese version).

Any help is much appreciated

Hey KK,

Is it a warning that your instrument cluster has fallen out of your Patrol? :)

I forgot to take a pic, so this is just a random picture from the net. Mine is still securely in the vehicle. :)

Water in your fuel filter symbol.

Could be bad fuel you have used.

I would get a new filter pronto and also take a sample of fuel in a clear container/cup and see if its contaminated.

Thanks for all the advice. But the light is still on, so here is the full story.

I took it out on the weekend, and flew through some puddles. I noticed the lights (Fuel filter and Battery) being on after the 2nd puddle. First assumption was that I got some water on the electrics and as soon as she is dry all will be well. But the light never went out. So I investigated further and looks like the alternator is barely charging, which would explain the battery light. They there was the unknown light (water in fuel filter). So I bought a new fuel filter on the way home took the old one off, cleaned everything and put it all together again with the new filter on. But still both the fuel filter light and the battery lights stays on.

At idle they are very bright but when driving around 2500rpm they are very dim.

Has any body ever experienced these two light being related?

Haven't experienced it but it is one of those things that are quite possibly linked due to lack of voltage.
I'd get the alternator looked at asap before it gets to bad. It may just need a good clean atm

Definitely alternator problem. When an alternator is failing it usually does funny things with dash lights.

Agree properly worn or stuck brushes in alternator, common mud run problem

It will be th Alternator. Mine went just before Xmas and had the Batt Light, Water in Filter light and the Brake light all come on.
Replaced the alternator and all good.
