Planning on putting 37s under the gq and will need to brace the front diff, meaning ill have the diff out. Is it worth upgrading to a Gu diff or will the gq diff handle the power? And if i do decide to go with a Gu diff do both need to swapped?

Yes both should be swapped, GU diffs are wider
If you only do the front you will end up with different track front to back like the V8 cruisers.
Not a real biggee but gives you power oversteer, which is why a lot of race cars do it

No brainer for me, GU diff swap for sure! Bigger stronger CVs and Bigger Brakes to handle the 37s for the win. As ET states it's better to swap both by plenty of guys just run a GU front. I swapped both Diffs on my GQ

The upgrade is worth it though.
Bigger brakes, bigger cv's and that's just all plus's

Seems like it will have to happen then, what if just the front is used, will it have a bad affect on anything? Thanks for the help so far gents

Nah not really mate. Liftlid still runs only a front and no trouble at all.

I now have a gu rear as well, only swapped because my gq diff broke its spring pads after the Kimberly trip, had a better turning circle with gq rear, but Tyers were closer to inner guards because I run gq offset 16 inch rims to keep ft Tyers under body better
