Hi all,

I noticed on the weekend that i'm getting some scrub on my rear wheels when flexing heavily. I'm running 33x12.5xR17 MTZ's on standard ST rims with a 2 inch lift. Would going to an aftermarket rim with a more appropriate offset fix this problem? If so, what offset would work best?

Cheers,

Matt

Cheers mate. Will this offset cause any steering issues? I've already fitted castor correction bushes.

-22 Rim offset shouldn't 'cause any noticeable steering issues and will not affect castor, camber or toe.
It will affect the scrub radius but is small enough not to be an issue

The vehicle will sit a tad wider on the ground which looks smick

IMHO stay away from -40 offset puts too much strain on the running gear and tyres will sit waaay outside the guards and will catch the eye of Constable Plod.

Thanks again! Now I just need to decide whether to get new -22 17 inch rims and mount my current tyres on them or sell the tyres (only done 27,000 km) and get 15 or 16 inch rims and new rubber!

Just check brake calliper clearance on current rims.
16's may not fit

Doesn't the "R17" bit stand for 17" rims? I'm guessing they wouldn't be 17 but I thought that's how it worked

Yep, R17 = 17 inch rims. Same as the standard ST alloys.
