Dear fellows

For ten years i have been a owner of an 93y60, a killer when it comes to beeing a workhorse under different weather conditions. +30 -40 degrees celsius here in Norway. A bit of glowing and off she goes. Anyways the time was up for this machine and i deceided buying a 96 y61. no moore engine power, but a bit moore comfort.. Well thats what i thougt... To end my suffering i am turning to this forum to get the best advice ;-)

1) when the temperature dropped below 0, the machine want fire up. I have tried serial glowing, wait a bit for starting after glowing and soo on- after doing this for about fifteen minuts she fired up very slowly and caughing-- putting out a lot of smoke. (nb sound and good working battery) and the enginee is a rd28tdi

But if i connect the enginee heater leaving it on for a few hours, she fires nearly without glowing.

So i think the solution is new glowing plug (these are hearby ordered) but i have read on this forum that coldbridging from the enginee to the pump might cause this, a problem in the pump might cause it, and finally problems with the egr valve could be the issue.

What do you guys think ?.....

2) Where tha f... is the power in the machine... my old y60 was almost linear pressure to the pedal vs output.. the y61 doesent run quite as linear or smooth- the power here works more in bursts.

I have read about people making an wire adjustment to the dieselpump, or putting in an electronic power booster. I like running the car in my fifth gear, but would also like some moore torquee at lower rpm...

What do you guys advice ?

3) Other suggestions or tips i should do, to enhance the enginee /car.

Thanks a lot, i do love the patrol ;-)
