G'day,

I am having a problem with my 2002 GU ZD30 Patrol. the other day I was driving on the freeway and noticed that the temp gauge was just above 1/2. It was a warm day and I had the ac on but this was unusual (never seen the temp go up in the car). subsequently it returned to normal and then didnt do anything for a couple of days, but now has started playing up all the time heading to 3/4 frequently. Im not losing any coolant, the overflow tank is on min, I can see the radiator fluid moving so I don't think it is the pump. What I think it may be is the fan clutch slipping. Is there anyway I can test this? When the car is hot with the engine off I can spin the fan with little to no resistance.

The second part to the question is if it is the fan clutch can I change the silicone in it? I understand that the fan clutch and water pump are a unit, is it possible to take the pump off so that I can take the front off the fan clutch to replace the silicone?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated

Cheers

Phil

Your viscous hub is definitely stuffed if that is the case

If you want to give it a crack at a refurb you need two tubes of the silicon from Toyota.

hi Phil
my first reply missed so a quick responce check if the Nissan coolant has been contaminated with an other product as this may cause a granulation residue to form in the radiator tanks, if so the fix is a radiator cooling system Flush.

Also as above but mixing coolants will cause a glagging effect and turn your coolant to gel. [Goat syndrome]
