Jump Starter

Found this and am wondering if it would jump start a 4.2 TDI. Poster on another forum said it started a 1HZ with a dead flat battery. Looks a handy gadget. Has anyone had any experience with this? Looks like I could use it to charge my IPAD AIR.

If the only issue is a flat cranker then, yes, should work no probs at all.
