Yes it would have been good but after all the crap that happened it would have been way too hard.

Never driven on sand.

Had to go to matty's this arvo and blew the gassket on the exhaust side of the turbo.. not sure what gasket i need?

The gasket where the vband bolts up to yhe exhaust side.

nissannewby

If its a proper v band it shouldnt need a gasket. But a small smear of some copper gasket hi temp should be fine.

Kinugawa? Or kowabunga turbos. I don't know too much about them have read that people have and love them on a td, not many horror stories either. The mamba ones are around the $1300 mark and the kowabunga about $1k

Pumps and turbos are all pretty close price wise. Any good turbo will be 2-3k and any good pump will be the same. Cheap turbos are just thag cheap sure they work but will never be as good as the real deal.

I dont know where to start with the kinugawa turbos... my turbo is too big so dont want to make the same mistake again. if funds are tight then why don't you go back to a ht18 for now and save for a bigger pump and turbo later on mate.

You'll get one cheap cheap for now and do everything you need for a couple of years.

Your pump will only do so much so save and go the full upgrade later on.

No its fine but would probably suit a 12mm pump to really get the most from it. The size under can still produce enough air to support 200rwkw but could be a nice option that could be used with a 11 or 12mm pump.

If you have a 10mm just go to a 12mm. 12mm will generally work very well by nature and can support a broader torque/power range.

Not yet. Hopefully will recieve the turbo this week then its a matter of getting it fitted. I still only have the orginal 11mm on mine and the turbo is working reasonably well for what it is. So the smaller one will hopefully be a winner.

Bruce is eating up the miles with gusto.... today we traveled from cape jaffa too judt east of Portland where we are staying for the night.

Stopped in mount gambier for lunch and afternoon stop over at portland where we visited the maritime museum..

We went too fitzroy river camp ground but the wind was terrible so was advised that the sawpit picnic ground and it is so peaceful.

We took all thr back country lanes here and thr drive was great .. we came across plagues of rabbits and i tried many times to run the buggers over.

Had a bit of a scare with a vdo oil pressure gauge playing silly buggers but came good halfway through the day.

Tomorrow we will hit the road with no clear agenda... life is good.

And what effect does it have. ..?

Its another form of cooling, atleast coolant can help dissipate some of the heat and have it cooled by the radiator, not just relying on oil.

Can also increase the longevity of the turbo

Going out early to get the correct reducer for the airbox and after tennis will get back into it... some projects I do enjoy.

Job done. ... got stuck right in after this mornings tennis and managed to get the job finished.

Hodge popped around and gave me a hand which was appreciated.

Unlike ab's snorkel I mounted my bolts straight into the long section along the body and will also add a second bracket on the upright. .. i drilled anf added the nutsert while i had the tool here but will make the bracket next week.

I also shortened the upright section by 3 inches and like how it all sits... fwark its sexy.

Thanks Andy and also mark for lending me the tools snd also mudski for getting much of the parts and cheers Eric for the hand mate.

Another job off the list. http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2015/10/129.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2015/10/130.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2015/10/131.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2015/10/132.jpghttp://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/images/imported/2015/10/133.jpg

Sort out a couple of nocks that are drivinge nuts and maybe get the auxiliary tank off to sort out the pump.

I would love a bigger intercooler but not a priority.

Makes the job so much easier and looks much better.

Mudski i have some 4 inch tube left over.. i am not sure its quite enough to do the whole job but it would be close.

Now to figure out this clunk... i will get mags to drive the car backwards and forwards while i try and listen for where it is coming from.

You can do it without the tooling by just using a bolt and nut as per link below.

Painfully slow but if only doing a couple then it works without spending excessive coin on a pneumatic nutsert tool.

There is no way to insert one on the piller like that.. I know of that method but I would rather buy a hand tool to do the job.

And from driving around with no snorkel at all the other day the turbo noise would drive me mad let alone having it right at my window.... I dont know how you guys with the snorkel with no ram head on can stand it???

You nutserted from the inside as you mounted yours from the snorkel directly across into the body thus no hope in hell without removing battery tray etc.

Mine was done with brackets and all work was done externally.

You get too the bolts via the inner wheel guard and is very easy.

Fitted a Ctec DC to DC charger yesterday plus tidied up a bit of the wiring... Also when I fitted the new air scoop I had to move my water jets for the windscreen but of course snapped them when trying to pull the hose off.... Thank god Mudski sells the jets and new hose.. they have never worked so good ever.

Also on the bummer side I have no aircon again... it seems when JPC fitted my turbo they pushed on the line a little too hard and was putting too much pressure on one side of the O'ring so it slowly leaked.. now I have to have it filled again for the 3rd f%$king time.
