G'day everyone
my names C.J
just a newby to this 4x4 game so I guess i'll be looking and learning for awhile. the site looks great from what I have seen so far. I'm from vic and had a hilux in the past but going to look at a couple of patrols this week.

looking at a 2010 3ltr and a 2006 4.2
can anyone tell me if the newer 3ltr crd are more reliable than the early ones, "handgrenades" is something I have seen written on the forum a bit regarding the early 3ltr ;)

any advice from you more seasoned folks on here would be great. should I go the older 4.2 td with 240 thou on the clock or the 2010 3ltr with around 100 thou on it. been reading as much as I can but still can't decide

3.0 CRD do not have the same "grenade" issues that the earlier Di had
td42 tuff as guts simply the best. (ive got crd) However later models are more comfortable. earlier GU td42 had an issue with 5th gear (most of which should have been sorted by now) ANY diesel you want to see a service history. Critical that regular oil and filter changes have been maitained

Welcome to the forum CJ make sure its am original 4.2 it may be a converted blown up 3ltr.
As Growler says history is everything, without it you are buying blind, CRD are a good buy
expect about 12-13 lt /100k the 4.2TD may be 15ish per 100k.
