Howdy,
Interested in others experience with this issue, or if its a one- off.
After having done my home work, recently had a DP chip professionally fitted to my 2010 3L GU, as well as a 3" exhaust. It's done 110,000 Kms, book serviced.

Performance was poor, with a flat spot on initial take off, but picked up at 2400 rpm., however generally less responsive. Blew black sooty smoke first thing in the morning. My mechanic, very experienced, spoke to DP, adjusted over the range of settings etc, - in the end disconnected it and it's back with DP for them to check. Without the chip, performance is better with just the 3" fitted.

Setting aside overheating concerns with the 3 litres, interested in any views, experiences or other feedback.
Cheers,
PB.

Hmm strange. No issue with my dp chip. Have you got the NADs installed? If so you will probably need to readjust the needle valve.

It may well have been a faulty one I'm sure Scotty will sort it out for you.
You will find on the higher settings it will blow black smoke and EGTs may be higher as well.
My chip is on 7 and no black smoke ever.
Do you have a catch can fitted , just saying as your MAF may need cleaning
reflecting poor performance

Sounds like the chip fuel mapping isn't correct.
Was it a second hand chip out of a different 3 litre?

DP gear is good quality and usually works straight out of the box "plug and play" but everyone can make a blue once in a while (or daily if it is me).
They are simple to install so it is almost impossible to balls that up.

If the rest of the engine management is factory I reckon DP will sort the problem pretty quick for you.

Thanks Threedogs,
Good advice, EGT was up around 550 on easy slope.

Hi folks, thanks for the interest.
After finally getting onto DP, they have taken it back, have told us its in the bench being tested. We hope to have another crack at it thus week.
Interesting that after we removed the chip,to send it back, the diesel now has a distinct flat spot from 1700 - 2200 rpm. Feels like the turbo not kicking in and is problematic, particularly on steep hills. May be a computer reset issue.
Will let you know how we go after this week.
At present: "not happy Jan!"

Removing a DP Chip (or setting it to 0) won't cause that problem...

Poorly adjusted Dawes and Needle valve with a 3 inch exhaust will tho.
Have you adjusted them yet?

May or may not work but disconnect the battery for 1/2 hr or so it may reset the ECU
Might be worth getting a Dyno to get rid of that flat spot.
As you said you had it before the chip and still have it after removing it.
The 3" exhaust may be the culprit lol
