A question for all the very experienced mechanical brains; I have just replaced my complete front axle with one from a donor vehicle. The knuckle joint on my old axle was badly pitted and damaged and the CV/Birfield ended up running in mud and subsequently started seizing up. I've recovered the bearings, brake disc and stubs on both ends (all in pretty good shape) and keeping them as bush spares. However, what do I do with the diff and side shafts? Should I be keeping them as possible future spares (I have two GRX's and intend to still run them both for the next five or ten years)? Or am I being over cautious like the Irish (to be sure, to be sure)? What should I keep and what should I chuck?
