Looked like an awesome trip. What a beautiful bit of country. To say I'm jealous, would be an understatement! One day I'll get up there...

Cheers heaps for sharing Bacho, looks like an awesome trip. Great country up that way, need to do a bit more exploring myself. The old gold mining stuff is pretty cool, so's that first photo of the river and escarpment.

Yeh certainly is fantastic country! The weather was absolutely awesome as well (at least for those with A/C!) maybe well have to plan a forum trip up there?

Yeh it was, we actually only found the mine shaft by mistake - we were actually heading up Wollybutt Tk for a bit of a challenge and took a slight detour to stubble across the mine.

The first photos of the rock escarpment are near the McAlister River crossing

Would be awesome! I missed the last forum trip to Bill Goat /Dargo, as I was in QLD from memory. And some workmates are going up there and Blue rag this very weekend, but with my coolant leak, I don't trust the car.

Why is it that the high country always looks great, doesn't matter when or where.
Great pics, thx for sharing

Yeh I'm really keen to get up there and do the blue rag / billy goats / pinnacles and a few of the other iconic tracks - once I sought out my A/T gearbox slipping / boost issues. Really don't want that happening on a rutted / challenging hill climb!

With the real hot weather it unfortunately wouldn't be worth the risk (even if your issue isn't exactly related to the hot weather). My brothers hilux was having a few over heating issues on the last couple days of the trip - the slightest sign of a hill and the temp gauge would climb up, even had to pull over a couple times to let things cool down. And the biggest thing, there was nothing obviously wrong with his cooling system!

Great photos, if I can sell the business it will be a three month trip for me to spend time around there to see as much as I can.

So true. I don't think I've yet seen a bad photo from up there. It's either the views, the scenery, historic element or amazing camp sites by the creek or something...

Given a few ppl have mentioned its on their bucket list, I was thinking What's the best way to find out if there is a bit of interest in doing a trip up this way - maybe around Easter 2015?

Is there anyone that has a bit of experience in the area that would be willing to lead a trip?

Hell yeah mate that would be awesome. I'm mean to be going OS for a few weeks April-ish, so heres hoping something gets slapped together before or after that. lol
Maybe start a HC trip interest thread in VIC / Trips? See what sort of momentum it gathers ?
