Got two calls from ARB today. First one tells me front wheel bearings look a bit ordinary. Second call a bit later tells me L/H stub axle spindle is found wanting.

The thread on the spindle has been chewed out and bearing damage on the spindle buggar.

Prior to dropping off the ute I had checked for play in the bearings and to my surprise found a smidgin of movement. Told them what I found and to take the play out of them. Thinking they would do a short cut by taking the complete hub off without disturbing the bearings to pull the axles. I would do the bearings down the track.

Had a yarn with the installer an he told me they usually check the bearings and they pull the axles that way. He told me looks like someone had done a bodgy job on the left hand side at sometime.

Seeing that the previous owner was a mechanic and had owned the ute for 6 years prior has left me a bit limp. Sometimes ya just can't pick em the perils of buyin second hand oh well onwards an upwards.

I have had the ute for just over a year now an was plannin on doin the bearings before I chooff off on my trip in the new year. Oh well I can cross that off my list of things to do.

Yea bugger.
How bad is the cv? Might be still ok as a spare if it can be cleaned up a bit.
