First car and a 4WD... I would definitely advise him to join a club or at the very, very least do a 4WD course.

First off welcome secondly well done you did your homework well.
As with ET join a club or do an accredited 4wd course.
that way you wont pick up bad habits, Remember NEVER use the TOWBALL
as a recovery point it will break and will KIll.
