I'm looking at getting a Slimline 2 (aka Wind Cheater) roofrack for my GU7 and they come as a 2m or 2.2m item in length. Any opinions or recommendations?

How long are the other brand "full length" racks?

hey rod,

what sort of rack are you looking at? for a tent? or for storage?

both mate. I'm looking at putting. RTT up there, but also need to put the big tent up there when the four of us go, and all the crap that goes with it.

When I put the cargo barrier in it kinda buggered the car but at least it keeps the stuff in the back where it should be when off road or in the event of an accident. But I can now bigger things in my Mazda 2 than I can in the troll...

I'm just not sure if a 2.2m rack would look funny as it would stat almost directly above the top of the screen. Not sure how many branches it would also catch off road being so far forward ?

only reason i ask mate is i have one that came with my patrol. i now have two roof baskets and racks for both lol. im probably never gonna use one let alone both. one it probably the 2.2 meter, if you wanna have a look at how they sit you can come down for a beer and have a look at how much of your roof it would take etc? no idea what its worth but im sure a case of beer or something like that and it could be yours with the racks lol

here are some pics of how much room it takes up:

Normal "full length" rack is 2.2m

Deja vu.

Cheers,

Nic, the rack was perfect. I got a Pelican space case from Bunnings for a great price (they may have labelled it wrong ) put it up there along with our tent, pergola, Maxx traxx, water and compressor.

Makes the Troll look tougher too in my opinion.

Even gave it street cred towing a Colorado out onto the beach

But that's where the fun ended

Needed 10 psi to get going again...

Once again thanks so much for the lend of the rack. Hopefully I'll pick mine up on Tuesday or Wednesday this week and I'll tee up a time to drop yours back later this week or on the weekend, what ever suits you best.

PS: I'm working on a leave pass for the Long weekend too...
