Just saying HI to everyone, looks like a great site. My old 4wd was a 1993 TD2.5 Dico, very comfy but gutles and no clearance. Have 2 brothers with GQ's both pet, 3lt and a 4.2lt. and 6 friends that have them too.

Will be buying one in the next month or two, just figuring out with one to get and its great to see so much info on here that others have asked which saves me asking the same over again.

I would love a GU TD4.2, but the wife just laughed at me when I said how much they are (look, she's a good girl, we are going into our 24 aniversay and she still puts up with my rubbish) so with the GU ruled out, looks like I will start looking around for a GQ 4.2D

Yes I know, they seem hard to find, but I have time to wait for the right one.

I'm from WA. Perth. 3 boys 19,18,14 and 1 girl 4. she's our surprise.

Well hope to see some of you out there soon.

Carl

Thanks for the quick welcome. its 4am. Better hit the sack, got to get up in 3 hours, the love of my life drove out of the carport and didn't close the drivers door first (how??). Well of to the panel beaters.
I have been having a real good look around the site, ITS GREAT. People seem to be very friendly and helpfull, thats big in this day and age.

I want too. But heck after reading so much on the site; I'm more confused as ever on what to get. I will have around $15k to spend soon but which one. GQ 4.2D, GU 4.5 lpg/ulp, buy an old dog and deck it out. The wife likes the look of the GU's but I think the GQ's may be abit stronger. It will be an everyday runner (100kms) and taken beach or bush once a month on an overnight fish/shoot/prospecting (300 - 600kms). I'm not in the king of the mountain thing or who can go the fastest through 4 feet dep mud. Just want to stepout into nature with my older boys and enjoy our fantastic country.

Any thoughts would be great.

I am biased but I have a 1998 GU 4.5 Dual Fuel. Very comfortable and reasonably economical on Gas. I have owned both GQ's & GU's and whilst I like the old square look of the GQ the GU is a lot more comfortable and in my opinion would be more suited to what you intend doing. With a Budget of $15,000 you could get a pretty reasonable GU.
