Hi all,

Had a great weekend, the first offroad since upgrading from the 29's to the 33's. What I did find is that low range 1st is too high to allow for a really slow approach to some obstacles without really riding the brake on the edge of stalling out. I've seen some threads discussing reduction gears, As I'm looking to put in lockers in the nearish future I'm thinking about a reduction in the crown/diff gear ratio.

Anybody done this on the tb48 ? Its certainly not needed for power at all. I think I barely touched the go faster pedal all weekend.

J.

According to the build plate that's what I've already got :/ (HH43).

Haha. Go 4.6 then

Looks like the 4.6 crown gears are rare, and aftermarket expensive...

Maybe I should wait until the next time the gearbox is due to come out (clutch etc) and have it rebuilt with lower range gears like the Marks 43% reduction kit.

Of course I'm not gaim to play with the gearbox, so I'll have to find somebody to do it for me... that's a couple of years off anyway.

The 2.8lt turbo diesel patrol came out factory with 4.6 diff gears, maybe try find a wrecked one and they will be cheap
