Hi guys,

Got a slight problem. NATS.

Have read a few forums about bypassing the TD42, but can't find nothing about ZD30.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I have already tried disconnecting the battery and restarting the engine as per the owners manual but no luck.

Have a search, top right corner and see what you come up with
other wise ET or one of the others will be along to help you out

I did yes :)

Plenty on the TD42 but not ZD30. Hopefully they are something similar.

I wouldn't automatically be disabling the NATS System .....

What is the problem ... no start?

Hi Happy :)

RACQ confirmed its the NATS. Engine cranks but does not ignite. Little red light on dash stays lit when ignition is turned on.

Could it possibly be a faulty relay or something of the like?

There is a chip in the key which engages with the NATS System to ensure that you are the one starting it...

Do you have a spare key to try first up, in case the chip is missing?

No spare key unfortunately.

Is it a Nissan key, or generic copy ?

The copies have a battery, when it fails the key is useless. I had this happen and had to pay Nissan for a replacement so I could drive the car.

Not sure to be honest. I hadn't had the Patrol all that long. What was involved with getting a new key?

A day with Mr Nissan.

Exactly what I'm trying to avoid. Any other ideas??

When the NATS plays up in the ZD30s it normally a faulty IMMU (the part that wraps around the ignition switch and reads the chip in the key). You can easily replace this part yourself.

It's just a shame you don't have a second key so we could eliminate the key as being the problem.

Yeh it's the spare key too, not original.

Cheers mate that's something I can look into.
