View Full Version : GQ Electric Windows door trim clips fix?

hi guys, i have the electric windows in my gq shorty and the door handle started to pullout of the trim, then the trim off the door from the previous owner who had broken the screw tabs on the inside of the arm rest i only have one left on the passengers and the drivers side but i was wondering if anyone had any ideas or solutions to strengthen it back up. heres a couple of pictures of what i mean exactly

im sure one screw would hold the door trim in place but i would like to know if there is any way to strengthen it, if not then ill work it out

I used a strip of aluminium and bent it 90 degrees. Then a couple of holes on the inside of the trim with some small bolts and its still holding up.

You could try some Rapidfix from autobarn and most stores like that. Its a two part system, works awesome and has a million uses - especially what you are needing to do there.

I've had countless troubles with blokes flogging them to. I've now gone the alloy bracket pop rivited on.
Had to cut on of the pocket clips off though to allow enough purchase and rivets onto the handle

what i did in the end was got a flat strip of steel and had 2 flaps coming off of that screwed into the inside of the handle and then screwed into the door like the original and its solid as a rock now :D thanks for your help and ideas guys, i should post some pictures incase anyone else comes across this needing a fix
