Hey all,

I'm currently running a set of 305/70/16 MTZ as my off road tyres, but unfortunately don't have a suitably sized spare.

Been looking to purchase a second hand MT tyre in the same size over the past couple months, but with no luck.... However there always appears to be heaps of 285/75/16 up for sale.

Would there be any issues in running a 285/75/16 (as a spare only in case of emergency) with 305/70/16??

Has anyone run this combination before or can foresee any issues?

Cheers

Theoretically the only difference between a 305/70 and a 285/75 is the width, but are the same diameter.

However manufacturers sizing differs so probably best to try and stick to the same brand tyre.

From what I could remember apart from width as Newby said the 305/70 is 32.4" tall and and the 285/75 is 32.6" tall. 20mm or 1" width is not going to nake a difference but I doubt the quarter of an inch shorter in height will either coz it would be just like driving with 1 front tye pumped and one deflated, it'll pull towards the smaller wheel slightly

Thanks guys for the quick responses.

I had done similar tye size conversation calculations and came up with the similar conclusions, however always good to have it confirmed! Cheers
