Hi all, just wondering if anyone has had the Nissan factory snorkel installed and found the s/steel self tappers on the A-pillar keep coming loose? mine was installed by Nissan dealer and I am not happy that the bracket which holds the tip of the snorkel has slotted holes for the self tappers which means that the head of the screw doesn't seal on the pillar , the water can go into the slot either side of the screw head and get to the where the threads penetrate the body work. there is no silicon or rubber seal etc. I also found that one of them is stripped so what's my options - any thoughts.

I have been chasing a rattle on the passenger side for a while and found that the screws on the factory snorkel were loose, I have not tightened them yet but must do that.

Best
would be to replace the self tappers with nutserts.

mmm nutserts, I guess its managing the to find the big kahoonas to drill big holes in my patrol which is only 3 years young. I guess bigger self tappers would help out the stripped one but I have had items which I continuously keep putting bigger and bigger self tappers in until an auger would fit. I will search for some small nutserts and pluck up the courage. I just think Nissan should have sorted it out properly instead of crappy Bunnings style DIY screws !!!

I had the same problem. The screws also rusted. I replaced them with a slightly larger gauge stainles steel self tapper and put a marine grade silicone sealer/adhesive on the threads and in the holes before screwing them in. That was years ago and I have never had another problem.

Thats what Id be doing way neater plus you can seal it neatly from any water ingress.
OMG a self taper have we nothing better to use, yes a nutsert or Rivnut as I was told.
Or you could put a plastic plug in the hole and screw the self taper into that

I just used pop rivets as the self tappers in mine were always loose too.

Use something like screws lock tight solutions or similar and windshield silicone for the brackets..
