No not at all. I was just amused at how many have exactly 25 Posts.
It does not take much to amuse me LOL

I find it interesting that the internet in general keeps growing. Misinformation, bullsh**, wrong info and everything just keeps going out there. What happens when its full?

Hey Bob, we should up the count to 26 for access to the manuels and see how many add one more post?

If they were here for the manuals then the answer would be.... None of them

The thing I find odd is that the manuals etc were originally and still are available elsewhere on the Interwebby so anyone who did the 25 posts solely for that reason is a dumbarse really... amusing but still dumbarses

If, on the other hand, they keep logging back on every now and then and use the "search" for answers without posting up then I have absolutely no problem with that at all.

I am on the Ford Territory Forum and haven't posted because I haven't had a question to ask or info to add that cannot be found on there already

Surely it is reasonable to have a ‘carrot’ in the form of manuals to attract new members to the forum. Some of them arrive wanting to become a member of a community, some just come for the manuals & find a community they like & stay, others just abide by the rules, make the obligatory 25 posts, get their manual & never come back. I can’t see a problem with that. Online communities are not for everyone, but at least we’ve taken the opportunity to put ourselves on show.

There is a problem however with the oft repeated complaint about manual takers. The problem isn’t the complainants or the complaining itself, but rather the fact that it has the side effect of making our community appear less welcoming to potential new members than we otherwise might. IMHO of course.

I agree, its not really that hard to find the manuals elsewhere on the net where you don't need to post 25 posts of crap to get it[/QUOTE]

I doubt any come back and log in every now and then, I would rather they find the manual elsewhere, not post crap just to get the manual and view the forum as they wish if that's the case

Ford Territory Forum???? and I thought you had taste in vehicles, quick where is that ban button *L*

Why not just remove the 25 post thingo and let them down load it and then they won't fill the forum with 25 post of crap. Or, don't have them available, or, only have them available upon request. any of those ideas would surely stop the 25 post of crap. But then again, how many people do come here just for the manuals, and then find themselves stuck here and making friends?

I dont mind them posting the 25 posts - its the draging up threads from ages past that annoys me

but then, I've been on here since 2010 - and I've not made many posts............

Yeah, gotta agree there, old mate... it is a bit of a PITA when you click on an interesting thread topic because it has a new post and the new post is just a pad.

FWIW I agree with mudski and Winnie, if that makes sense.
On one hand I have always spoken against the 25 post idea but happy to bow to the decision back when it was a hot topic.
On the other hand if it has meant an extra mate or two that has hung around then thats OK as well.
Lots of good people on here that I'll never meet in the flesh in my lifetime.

Cuppa nailed it right there. I apologise for the ship that gets put on here from time to time but its the foundation of building this place. It bought a lot of traffic to the forum and we snagged a lot of members and good friends as a result of it folks :)

Because that is not my call, Personally I would remove the 25 post rule but only have it available to paying forum members

Yes the manuals do bring a lot of traffic 2 the forum but what does this traffic really do for you / the forum?

I don't believe "we snagged a lot of members and good friends as a result of it" I think those like me stayed because of the friendly ( 99% of the time ) community we have here. And yes I did find the forum by doing a google search on GQ manuals, but that has nothing to do with me staying. If you took a poll on who came for the manuals and stayed and done a search between 0 post and 25 posts. I would put money on more people grabbed the manuals and haven't been back and that's even taking into account 50% 0 post for spammers.

I would not have found the forum if not for the manuals.

I would not have still been here had it not been for the 25 post "rule" (I thought how the eff am I gunna get 25 posts) Saying gday to other members wasn't "pushed" as much then

I probably wouldn't have stayed if members like BigRig (AKA Scotty) hadn't sh1t stirred me.

Unfortunately that would be illegal and a risk for me

Yes the manuals do bring a lot of traffic 2 the forum but what does this traffic really do for you / the forum?

Pays for the forum, creates a targeted audience for sponsors to be interested in. A percentage of them also stay around and now have 20,000 posts and keep this place humming and become friends.

but that has nothing to do with me staying

For sure mate, but unfortunately if left open to download the server will max out. We currently almost max out 500gb each month, average 450gb

I would put money on more people grabbed the manuals and haven't been back

Of course, my money would be on that too ;)

I think that you should stick with the 25 posts thing, the advent of smart phones, whatsapp, facebook etc are taking a heavy toll on these sorts of forums everywhere.

Not much, thanks for asking tho and whatsapp with you lately?
Whats a 'facebook'?

I think there should be piccy's of Sophie Monk on the Roof Top Bags which should be given free to any member who has read all Clunk's posts
