Hi everybody

I hava a, maybe silly question. When i block the EGR, is it realy necessary to remove the butterfly, or can i just disconnect the vacuum hose, which goes to the butterfly? Will i have any faults if i don't remove?

Is the removal just for better air flow?

Thanks a lot

Chris

You can remove it or just disconnect it and make sure you hold the butterfly open with a cable tie or something...

Okay, so the better option is to remove it. I think a cable tie is not so good.

Thanks

Yes. That way the engine is still thinking everything is being controlled ok. The (butterfly) spindle will still move on command with the ecu, but with no butterfly plate, it won't be diverting nothing (remembering the egr block plate) and starving the engine.

Sorry I haven't seen on the 2.8's how the butterfly is controlled, or connected. I assumed it was a servo mechanism of some sort with a connecting rod to the butterfly. I assumed you would just disconnect the rod and hold it open.

Cheers.
