Very sad news. I don't know jack about cricket, but yeah this is very unfortunate. The bloke who bowled, must be shattered too ? Can't imagine how it'd feel.

Very sad indeed. I can image the bowler will never bowl a short ball again, if at all...

Devastating for both the family and the players.

I really feel for the bowler Abbot it wouldn't surprise me if he quits over this unfortunate accident

Hopefully nothing changes.

Unfortunately things happen at times but when it happens to high profile people everyone tends to take more notice and think OMG. But unfortunately there are many more people that are going through just as tough a time tonight with a similar injury who will never make the news. Having said that and having played cricket for the last 30 years I have shed a tear for Phil Hughes today.

RIP Phil Hughes

Dunno if others heard but on the radio they said within minutes of the announcement of his passing people were putting up Hughes memorabilia on eBay at over inflated prices! F#&king dogs! Im gonna use my other ebay account and bid stupidly high prices on their stuff and never respond. Eff'em.

He died doing what he loved. Rip Phil Hughes. A well respected man in the Cricket community, and has been great to hear of the many tributes to him.

Lost count of how many people have put out their bats.

Heard that in many of the junior games played today, instead of a retirement score of 50 they bumped it up to 63 for Phil.

Brendan mcullum made the fastest test century by a kiwi today, with 78 balls. Instead of cheering and jumping around, wearing a black armband, he raised his bat in a salute to Phil.

Rip mate, you will be missed by many

Also great to hear about how many people have been supporting Sean Abbot throughout. Can't imagine what he's been feeling, especially as I believe he was good mates with Phil. Such a freak accident, but taking it's toll on so many people.

It seems even the queen has sent a message of condolence to the Hughes family. So good to see so many people band together at a time like this.

Channel Nine hang your head in shame with last nights coverage.

Was absolutely disgusted, whoever was responsible for this blunder should hang their head in shame and be sacked.
Your coverage of the Philip Hughes tragedy had an advertisement displayed in the background.
“Should have been with AAMI.”
A National apology is in order.

You have lost two viewers here.

I haven't watched channel nine news or their specials since the threadbo disaster all those years ago. Shortly after the land slide they setup camp on the front doorstop of the victims relatives... It was to much.

Channel 9 ore the most repulsive of the Australian media IMHO. This incident just shows nothing had changed.
