Have 2012 3litre Manual.

drive very conservatively but original tyres at 25k are starting to look like replacement at below 30k. What sort of life can one expect out of tyres these days?

Oe tyres wont give you long life what ever you buy next if an all terrain
or hwy pattern expect about 80-90 thousand out of them rotating every 5000k
and keeping pressure in check.
Mud tyres will last a lot less

STD tyres may only have 6mm tread where as after market will/should have about 12mm

But arent the standard tyres fitted to patrols, Bridgstone 693, 694 or 697?

Oh, before I forget, welcome to the forum Jimmy

My work fleet OE Bridgestone Duellers last the life of the Vehicle Lease and then some.
Vehicles go to auction at around 60 to 65 thou.

To only get 30 ish then something is def wrong.

We bought a Hilux new and the original Bridgestone tyres lasted 22000 klm. They were rubbish, our Hiace's needed new tyres at 30000 klm. Effing Toyota.

Hi,

I can imagine your frustration. I've got a 2011 manual wagon. At 25K I noticed a bit of edge wear, and since then check my tyre pressure very regularly and rotate EVERY 10K. I found two things - Firstly, they need regular checking unlike many smaller tyres on passenger cars and secondly, they benefit from a little over inflation (Say 38psi) . I'm now at 46K and have pretty even wear with more than 50% tread remaining.

My only caution is that with a little over inflation on standard springs and shocks, you can get a bit of wheel bounce when braking on uneven surfaces, leading to the ABS kicking in ever so slightly. In my mind that's a great excuse to invest in quality springs and shocks with a little lift.
