Hi Guys,
I just bought my first patrol, She is a 91 GQ TB42 Petrol/LPG with 220,000 km on the clock.
It has a long range fuel tank under the drivers side- i think its a 70 ltr tank- It was recently removed, flushed and sealed.

She has been running rough (Its missing between 2000-2500) on both Petrol and LPG only a week after we bought it. It feels like ignition but i have almost run out of possibles. First thing in the morning, she runs fine, then after she is up to operating temperature, she starts to miss under load or accelerating.

So far i have replaced the following with new parts;
Rebuilt Carby , fuel filter, plugs, leads, rotor button, dizzy cap, points and condenser, coil, Adjusted timing and points gap (was slightly out) timing was 20deg btdc and points gap was .090mm - adjusted to 15deg btdc and .050 mm.

I have also flushed Radiator, and replaced thermostat and waterpump.
Fuel economy is pretty crap as well- so far on a tank of premium- I have done 220km and i have about a 1/4 of fuel left. LPG is about the same and its a 80 or 90 ltr tank.
Wheels and Tyres:
33 X 12.5 R15 Hankook RF03

Any ideas would be appreciated - i have not replaced the distributor yet - but it may be worth a shot?

your problem I think could be electrical as its the same on both, I think there is an extended rotor button for your motor.
Gas likes it a bit advanced so just off pinging on petrol, where are you located?
Have you all the air out of the system, park uphill with a coke bottle inverted in the radiator with the butt cut out
Check all your vacuum hoses for cracks and perishing as well, vacuum hose is cheap.
TBH I would fit electronic ignition a sort of set and forget.
From memory I think 350-400 range on gas total fil 90 ltrs

Hi threedogs,

Yep i bought the extended rotor button- the one with the little springs in it, used the coke bottle trick for the air bleed and the heater on etc and visual checked all the vac hoses for leaks and used some carby cleaner over them to see any rev change.
I think a new electric dizzy might be the way to go as well. I'm up in Cairns. :)
I might insulate my fuel lines a bit better from the heat if i can.

I used to get 250kms out of an 80L gas tank (towing my Flamingo)
but
mine was tuned for Gas Performance - a whopping 96Kw V's 98Kw on Petrol

I also used to get 250Kms out of the 50L petrol tank (again, towing my Flamingo)

I would also be checking your Earths, and any and ALL wiring for your Gas.......... replace if they look sus..........

I have a 91 Manual gq with a tb42s and run LPG.

I'm getting around 340 Km per tank - 90 L LPG

The pertonix and extend rotor button help to smooth out the idle and help with it reving out. The extended rotor may resolve the the missing.

Check all you vacuum hoses for splits ad that they are correctly connected see http://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/nissan-patrol-gq-y60-ford-maverick-11/lay-out-vacuum-hoses-tb42s-198026/

I have heard of people have an issue with a bent dizzy shaft.

ALso Heard of perolpe have an issue with a leaking manifold inlet gasket.

Also check that you dont haver an exhaust leak. I have also had problems with the flange bolts - just below the manifold comming loose, and the Y pipes just below the flange cracking
