Roofy’s putting the hard word on me to come up & defend the championship! Now that I’m closer (approx 300kms) I love to get up there & enjoy one of John’s superlative camp oven roasts, (don’t give a toss about the cod LOL) but unfortunately I have a prior appointment on the Saturday (6th) arvo which I’ve promised to go to. Would far rather be up there with you blokes, but I’m not going to rush up there & back just for an overnighter. Have a great time, maybe I’ll get back again next year.

Is the plural of Cod, Cod?
If so, how can you get a kick in the Cods and is that the same as walloping them?

We treat them like Carp over here and just have a few tiddlers in the odd local pond to keep the kids amused

Part time vegetarian! LOL. About 70% veggie, + chicken & fish. Don’t generally eat red meat. Last time I ate red meat was TD’s roast. Currently on a low carb weight reduction diet .... if I make it up there that’ll have to go by the wayside. I’m working on getting there. Will let you know during the week if I can make it.

Cuppa
30th November 2014, 02:43 PM
OK, it looks like I’ll make it for the full Thurs to Sat. :bananadancing:Are we all chipping in for TD to feed us again?

I could do with a mud map from Bearii to the site (pretty please) unless we are going to meet in Bearii at a set time. GPS coords might help if my ipad works under the trees. I’ll put my CB on channel 17, although that wont be much good if, like last time, someone at camp forgot to switch theirs on! I might even be the first up there & I don’t want to get all set up only to have some of you mongrels rock up & tell me I’m at the wrong site!

Looking forward to it.

I intend to get there early in an attempt to get the Spot

The Co-ordinates for those who have a GPS are: -
35°51'36.7"S 145°17'39.7"E Just copy that and paste in Google Maps and it will show you the location

Hey TD,
Seeings you’re a knife enthiusiast an all, I’m guessing you might be half reasonable at sharpening knives, something that I’m pretty hit & miss at achieving. (Seems a matter of luck as to whether they end up sharper or blunter than before I started). If there is any possibility you could bring your sharpening gear up to Bearii I’ve got a pocket knife (Schrade Uncle Henry) & a kitchen knife (Sebatier I think) which could do with your expert attention. You might even be able to help me improve my technique? (I have a small diamond sharpener).

I caught that in the hole I was casting into to get those silvers, on Monday night around 11.30, TD. It came in at 52.5 cm. BUGGER!. In total I got 11 carp, two undersize cod, 4 silvers and that unidentified perch.

How did you go with the trip home?

While the fish were off the bite during the day, I cremated all of the carp and cleaned the joint up a bit.

Yeah. I rang him when I got to my parents place. The drive home for him, must've been agony. The weather was magnificent from Sunday, on. The Vic rangers came around for a visit, but I never saw the NSW wildlife officers. When the boat traffic stopped, the fish went nuts.

Overall, it was a great trip. The Old Trol didn't miss a beat either.

I had a sleep Monday arvo so I could stay up and fish into the night. For a long time after dusk, I couldn't keep a bait on the hook, as per most of the days, but then it went quiet and that's when I got the cod. The moon was unreal. I wish I had a better camera to capture it properly.
