Hey All,
It's been a while and i used to post under billy bleed but lost details so had to sign up again!
Might be a silly question.. but could this battery replace my normal starter battery?
http://australia.vividracing.com/braille_lithium_ion_micro_lite_12_volt_battery_150 _amp_6_x_3_x_4_inch_left_positive_1016282696.php
I was thinking if this is the case it would allow me to then run a normal 120 deep cycle battery from under the bonnet for my dual battery system due to its small size - I have done my measurements and could fit both these under my bonnet. I'd rather pay a little extra to achieve this than have to put the battery in the cargo area..
Any advice?
Cheers

no idea on that battery Billy I would think you would need a minimum of 700cca to start a diesel or big 6 petrol
Take into account the weight of a 120AH battery it could weigh heaps, I just fitted a Trojan 115 ah wet cell
and I wouldnt like anything heavier there. lot of money for a battery but if the technologies there go for it

That battery is for little remote control cars Billy, way to small for your Patrol mate:)
150 Cranking Amps won't turn the Patrol mate
Length: 5.8"
Width: 2.57"
Height: 3.58"
Weight: 2.2lbs

AC Delco make a good SLA battery for your start battery and wont break the bank ,
We can get it through my battery guy when you are ready, if you like

Opps my bad.. Did not read it right..
What would be the smallest starter battery I could use for my patrol? I just really want my start and aux under the bonnet but only have about 20CM length x 13CM width x 13CM depth give or take..
I want to run my music, charge phone and iPod along with my 40lt engel fridge at the moment

OH you have dual fuel dont you?
your options may be limited
I'll make a call and see what options are available
Right made a few calls and the answers were the same .
It is possible to have a dual battery system it all depends
where the converter is mounted and if it can be moved.
As for that size battery you are talking a deep cycle 26AH
golf buggy or seadoo battery about $90 on ebay I know cause I want one myself
for camp lighting duties
Too small to run an Engel IMO. Ill send you a PM

Give these guys a call they are very helpful

I don't think I've had a crank battery under 760cca

You might be better off making a battery box that can be charged by your alternator via a dual battery setup and a 50 amp Anderson plug

Thanks all!
I'm thinking might be better to run it throw the cargo area then.. Don't really want to have it as a battery box - much rather it all fixed in the truck.. Will just attach to a baintech power panel short term until I finish the storage in cargo and charge after trips.

some one here with a 6.5 chev fit their aux battery into the rear left 1/4 panel and looked ok

I run in my GU a MF95D31R Supercharge as the cranking battery. N70ZZ in the old terms. Then I run a D70Z deep cycle as my Aux battery via a Redarc isolator. I cannot fault either battery. I sold Supercharge for 18years in my previous job and I believe they are extremely good value. Yes you can get better for more money, but you can with anything.

Mark problem Billy has is he has a Dual fuel Patrol so space under the bonnet is limited.
finding a battery is the easy part where to put it is the problem

I cut the end out of one of the drawers and snuck it in there. Not ideal as you lose some drawer space, but it works well with the fridge sitting directly above the battery.

I'm sure you could keep the standard size battery as a cranker and look at 6x small 2volt batteries under the front seats in series or 2 small motorbike size batteries put in parallel. There is a bit of space under there.

I can fit a 20Ah easily under the passenger seat. I'm guessing if you got the correct size batteries you could get 30-40Ah under each seat.
A total of 60-80Ah under the seats would be pretty good I reckon. Plenty for a fridge and lighting for a night before recharging them with the alternator

FNQGU - that's what i was hoping to avoid but looks like the way i will need to go - what drawers have you got there?

I'm considering a slimline battery to fit between the 2nd row seat and the rear of the drawers I'm installing. I think there's just enough space, just need to sort out a way to secure it appropriately in case of a rollover.

I've temporarily relocated my 'standard' sized deep cycle to the rear passenger floor as it won't fit in the back with the drawer in place. There is a gap between the side wall of the car and the drawers that a lot of people use to stash bits and pieces, I'm looking at potentially putting a slimline deep cycle battery here. It may be possible to stash one of these under the drivers or passenger seat, although it would be a tight fit and I wouldn't fancy copping one in the back of the ankles.

I have ordered the tb48 dual battery tray to see how it goes, relocating the washer bottle near the ABS. If this works I may not need a battery in the back of the car.

i gave up on trying to figure out another option and have purchased some drawers with a battery cavity added in the rear left side cargo area - will setup the ctek next to the battery in that space and just run my plugs through to the left side wing.. it works and thats all that matters now huh!

If you put a Battery in a confined space where does the heat dissipate to when being charged. Over heating a Battery will kill it in a short time.
I could be wrong but I like my Batteries to be able to breathe and dissipate the Heat

Good point Bob might be worth wiring in a small fan to help dissipate some heat.
I Think FNQGU did simmilar

but if i buy a deep cycle that is for interior use it will be ok if i drill holes around it - i imagine it would be similar to putting it under the bonnet - some deep cycles are not good due to constant heat..

yeah would probably be cooler than under
the bonnet as long as heat has somewhere to go
to you have a model in mind if so I'll get a price for you.
A lot cheaper than if you buy it

I've done some measuring and relocating the existing washer bottle is going to be difficult given the lpg converter is in the space recommended in the superior engineering design. What I am looking at is the void in front of the master cylinder on the drivers side. I'm looking at using a third party bottle to fill this void freeing the space used by the current washer bottle for a smaller battery for a dual role:
* additional capacity for winching
* emergency in the event of a primary battery failure
* power 'other' devices when needed
I already have a redarc 200amp isolator installed switching power to the deep cycle in the rear of the car with a dc-dc charger when required. As I've now installed a single drawer the existing 105A/H battery won't fit in the back anymore, so this will be moved to the camper and a new slimline battery installed between the drawer and drivers side wall with enough power to keep the fridge happy for a couple of days.
So some work to be done.

Similar design to the kickass batteries linked earlier, up to 150AH.

Just received the battery tray for the tb48 from pirahna. I now know why they don't publish measurements, at best it may do for a 60ah battery, more likely a 35-40AH.
Now I have the tray I may install it, I'll still need a battery in the back though for longer trips.

My washer bottle has, without any help, started to leak. It's as if the car wants me to use the tb48 tray...
But a job better left until the summer trips are out of the way. (I leave the potentially annoying jobs for the off season... Panel beating etc)
