Whipped this up this morning. Bunnings wanted $94 for the checker plate. Went to the local metal fabricator and he charged me $18 and cut it to the size I wanted. $25 for the other fitting. Fairly happy. 5110651107

I got some wire rope. Mounted the top eyelet thing behind the plastic to keep it looking tidy. Just need to trim the screws and make something to hold it up. 51192

Until what flexes? Chequer plate or barn door?

Chequer plate

I like the idea but wondering if ill put a fold on the front

As in double over the front, or make a small lip that points down, to give a bit of rigidity?

Yea a small lip on the front and possibly magnets to keep it shut, obviously the magnets won't stick to the aluminium but some steel on each corner

Torneau loops.

Yeh not a bad idea. I'll see how it goes, I don't really want to uninstall and reinstall it.

I brought mine off ebay ages ago - stainless steel with all the fittings required - was about $300 from memory
