Its the race that stops the nation or so they say, what has everyone tipped.
Knowing nothing about horses I think Faukner might get the chocolates,
only because it a near by suburb

I had Protectionist and Red Cadeaux. Ended up with $71. Not a huge amount, but more than I was expecting from small bets.

Looks like araldo may get put down also after getting spooked by a spectators flag and breaking a bone trying to jump a fence.

Fair enough mate, there will be plenty of other families there, and it really is a good family environment. If your wife has any reservations because of blokes she doesn't know Tegan was the same but now is completely comfortable around everyone.I think most of us are just a normal bunch. And the others like ab... Well they are just special

The animal libbers were quick to pounce, but I reckon race horses have a pretty good life .
You could do worse then come back in a second life as a stallion that just won the Melb Cup. lol

Or they could drop dead after the race.

That put a new twist on the term 'stayer' didn't it.

Punters can wait a couple of weeks and back it again when it goes around inside a Greyhound at Sandown Park.

There is actually a lot more to it than you think. The number of horses that don't make it even to the race course far outweigh the ones that get to make it to the likes of the Melbourne cup. Yes while they are racing and doing well they are treated incredibly well but the ones that don't are just left for others to pick up. For the most part the horses are well cared for post racing.

Now this is where the problem comes in as people buy horses and quickly lose interest as with any pet they all require work and it's then they get neglected, ill treated etc etc. The media as usual gives a misguided truth and the real concern should be how badly everyday people treat everyday horses.
