chattering noise

anyone had a chattering noise comming from the rib belt tensioner shocky
3lt diesel

I would replace the belt[OE} and tensioner at the same time .
sounds like its U/S

Agree it could be a faulty tensioner but usual suspect for chattering is the sprag clutch on the Alternator.

The tensioner shocky might only be moving because the sprag is mucking up the belt tension.

Been there done that on my CRD.
