Hi everyone, i just bought a 2009 gu6 patrol with the 3 litre crd. I've got a fuel supply problem on the low pressure side (no issues when engine is running) and so I'm just starting from the beginning to get it sorted out. The problem is after a few runs around town i need to manually prime the fuel line otherwise the engine will stall straight after it starts. Sometimes it will take about 5 or more pumps to get pressure in the priming bulb. From what I've read the fuel lift can be a source of this problem and as far as i know the pump is usually in the tank or under the bonnet. I've already tried listening for it when I turn the ignition on but can't hear anything. So just wondering if anyone knows
A. Is there a fuel lift pump on the y61 3.0l crd?
B. If so where is it?.
C. Does it make a nose with ignition on?
D. What does it sound like?

Thanks in advance for your help.

No lift pump in a 3L Patrol. In a CRD anyway, that I am aware. Somebody else will correct me if I'm wrong.
It sounds like you have an air leak in a fuel line somewhere between the filter and the tank.

Lift pump will be part of the injector pump. As others say check for air leaks. You can get an inline one way check valve if all else fails.

Hey thanks for that, there has been some very tiny amounts of diesel collecting on top of the filter which ive noticed looks brand new so ive tightened the hoses there and hopefully that will solve it.

Sounds like you may have found the suspect mate. Fingers crossed.

seems to be getting to be a common problem that the hose clamps to the fuel filter are all crap just replace them. By the way is happening when your parked uphill or flat.

Funny you should ask kevin07, it was happening when parked uphill, which I had actually wondered about. Since tightening the clamps it hasn't happened although i cant remember parking on a slope in the last few days. No sign of diesel on top of the filter now either. Whats the significance of the angle I'm parked at?
