So I bought my first Patrol (99 Gu 4.2t) back in early June 2014 and it was great for the first 2 months. Engine had only done 26,000 since last reco so I sent it back to the company that had done the work. Now this company has been sold and taken over by another trading under both names so I live on the Sunshine coast and the company that has taken over (now in Victoria) asked me to send the complete motor so they could test everything. I was told a valve had broken a piece off it and that's why I had lost all compression they were happy to replace the valve and send it back but there was another problem with a different cylinder that had over fuelled and scored the bore. I came to an agreement and had the injector pump sent away and tested and repaired the advance timing and they were to reco the motor and send it back to me. Now this is where things have gone bad I got my engine back Tuesday and it came back as a long motor with no bolt ons on it like I had sent them. I could deal with that but in their wise wisdom they have sent back a box on nuts and bolts unlabelled so now my poor mechanic has a 10,000 piece puzzle to put back together . If anyone would like the name of these 2 businesses please feel free to pm me

As per pics you can see how it was sent to them and what my $4000 got me for a new set of rings and a piston and sleeve

I rung them straight away they just wiped their hands of it I thinks it's a disgusting way to run a business I work as an auto elec if we were to do this to a customer they would be furious as am I but they are 2000ks away so don't know what to do fair trading is a joke and want to make you jump through hoops to even look at your case

Do you have pics of how you sent it?
If so maybe lawyer up and take for the cost of rebuild plus your expenses for being asses.
That's overkill but go fair trading. If you have evidence of how you sent it and how you received it, then I would think it's quite a strong case.
How much is your mechanic saying it's Gunna cost to rebuild??

I have just sent an email to them asking for labour for my mechanic to put it all back together as advised by fair trading they have 7 days to respond and if they wont do anything then fair trading will take over. I have photos of it getting loaded onto the back of the truck and as it was unwrapped you will see in the first photo up the top how it was sent down I have more of those as it was loaded onto the freight truck

As with another member here, keep times of all calls , emails, receipts etc etc stick to your guns
no matter how bleak it may get. Plenty here to keep your chin up

Be careful with naming and shaming though... very easy to call slander.

They cant call slander when I have proof of what they have done to my engine I am telling the truth in what has happened so therefore they have no leg to stand on for that. I have been advised to email them with what I want from them if they don't reply within the time frame I have given them then fair trading will investigate the fact they are operating under 2 different names is enough to start an investigation alone
