Hi guys,
I have had the Intermittent problem with speedo on my Patrol gq 1991 for a while now, but I think I have found the cause now. i've done the soldering, extra ground, clean contacts, check wires with no success.. I took out the instrument cluster again, and noticed something loose inside. On opening it was a capacitor thing in a black plastic cover (see the 2 photos). Must have came loose with knocking the dash to make it work. I can't make out the writing and don't know where it should go. Do any of you have an idea where it comes or have a photo of the speedo pcb (component side or both sides) , as the value might be printed on the pcb. Should be a quick fix if I know what to buy, and where it should go. I've seen another post a while back indicating a crystal falling off but it didn't really have images so I don't know if it is the same thing and where it goes. Help would really be apreciated. Cheers all.

I can make out some writing: 4.19 mz. If that is the case, it might be the crystal. But I still don't know where it would go on the pcb. Photos would really help a lot of people on this forum. Cheers

The one on the left should have left 2 pins behind that it was joined to ,
you made need a magnifying glass to see them.
Mudnut will be your go to man on this one

Thanks guys, will use the photos posted on my other thread by Mudnut, look at the markings on the pcb and look for the remainder metal stubs left after the break off. Should be good with all the help. Past need to get the Component from somewhere. cheers

Hi all, some feedback and another request please I have found where the resonator came of an, but when I Wanted to solder the new one in, I noticed that the old one didn't just broke off, but that some of the copper track Was also missing must have pulled up and tore off. I tried to look to see where it should connect and made a solder bridge there. Still the same Issues with my Speedo. In the photo attached I circled the corner of the pc board of my Speedo (Patrol gq) that I desperately need a detail photo of to see where the tracks connect. It would be much appreciated if some one could post here Thanks

Wermaus - i had the same problem with my GQ.
It is a 4.19 Mhz crystal - hard to find - but i found a 4.097Mhz at work - that fix the problem.
I will ahev a look for more info

Thanks GQ Tank, I managed to get a 4mhz one from RS components. Think it might be close enough. Problem is that the copper track also came of on the pc board of the speedo where the resonator was in. I did a bridge with solder, but are not sure that is where it should have bridge to. See my image above, I've circled with red the corner I'm not sure of. If I could get a closeup photo of that corner from someone, I could see how the track initially looked and confirm my bridging. Will have to wait on someone to post. Cheers mate

Hi all, is there nobody with a Patrol gq st 1991 speedo lying around that could just take a photo of the back of the circuit board (especially a close-up of top left corner. I've got some copper track missing in that corner and need a photo to compare with Please. In previous post I had a photo showing the section I need detail of. Please help me. I have tried my best to figure the copper out without any luck Cheers
