Has anyone ever been successful in finding a replacement boot for the slip joint on a GU (TD42 1998)? If so where did you find it or what did you use instead?

Nissan want to sell me a complete tail shaft. I've called all the driveshaft & CV specialists I know & they have the same problem. Someone has to make them. I've looked online too.

The only thing I've seen in the past that's similar is something for a swimming pool or dunny but trying to find the right size will be near impossible.

Wreckers don't want to separate them either.

I haven't pulled mine off to measure it yet but I reckon it's about 35mm diameter one end & 60mm the other & prob about 50mm long.

It's freakin annoying coz mine was in good shape until we had to winch the car through a river & it jagged itself on a rock.

There a joint here in Melbourne called CV Centre. They do change over drive shafts and CV's. So they'd have boots available for them. You just need to find the right place I suppose. What were the places in Perth you rang? A quick google of drive shaft repairs Perth revealed quite a few people. Surely one of them would have something.

I tried Allan's CV joints & Advanced driveshafts. I also rang my mate who is parts manager at my local nissan & I rang the guys at The 4WD shop, who are usually guru's at that stuff. I ytried ebay & I tried google searching the item itself.

Just to name a few who make driveshafts. Your going to need the exact size of each end and length too. Someone will have them. I used to buy them over here when I was in the transport sector...

I'd try Final Drive and Veem first, both manufacture custom driveshafts and service/repair factory.
Both been good in my dealings with them.

Did anything come of this?
To me it looks like a small CV joint, originally made by NOK, someone, somewhere, must sell these?!
I have emailed hardy spicer and waiting to hear back, would love to hear more from people who know anything.

Also, how do you separate the two halves?

Cheers
