Hey fellas got a non turbo td42 gq, checked coolant thismorning as did 500k drive last night it was full thismorning as I checked it but did bit of driving and 4wding today, tonight it got a bit hot so checked and took 2 litres, overflow is full although spilling over a bit spitting so to speak, I'm 500ks from home and supposed to be going camping for few days however unsure what it could be as no visable leaks. Has a pretty new radiator and hoses too, car did get a hard time today though!!! Cheers fellas

A couple of things to check.
Radiator cap for a good seal, is its original it's probably worth just replacing, there cheap as.

The other thing could be a hole alongside over flow hose.

Both these may be allowing water to the over flow tank but drawing air back in.

You do have a leak somewhere though. The radiator should stay full all the time with an overflow setup.
Let's just hope it's not a gasket..

Sounds like it the radiator cap, when they fail they usually allow the water to expand into the overflow but don't allow it to recover it back into the cooling system, or as Westy said a leak up high where it draws air in instead of water.

Try park the car with the radiator up/ the highest point, that way air into the system will go to the cap.

Radiator cap has probably done 40 thous as got new one when replaced radiator. Could try replace for cheap insurance though, the pipe on the right hand side of overflow that just free flows into engine is spitting a bit unsure if this could be related though? Definately seems like it's overflow taking from radiator related just not sure which pipes or parts to change
