Hey Guys,

My 99 GU has a neat 3" suspension lift, and was wondering about the pros and cons of fitting 35" tyres to her (as play tyres only, not for everyday driving).

So my question? Is this do-able for the set up that i have???? as ive always had another set of wheels and tyres for off road purposes....

The set up im going for is a complete set of Dynamic 16x10", -44 offset round hole steel wheels, fitted with some form of fair priced mud tyres (315/75/16).

However was just thinking that with the added tyre wall width, plus the new rims being so negative in offset will stick out a fair bit more then my standard steel wheels?? Will this hit my guards when flexing etc?

Any help is muchly appreciated, thanks all!!!!

illegal unless engineered as far as I know but on the other hand 315s would look sweet

As far as I am aware the 3" lift is already illegal, so going 35's won't make much difference. You also get the extra diff clearance. The only thing that might be a "stand out prob" is how far past the guards your tyres will be, they might pick that and then go over the rest. IMO I would go the size tyres but less of an offset on the rims so they don't stick past the guards. The other thing is with the offset rims I have heard that it puts extra strain on your wheel bearings, (but could be wrong on that).

Yes extra strain on front wheel bearings,,,,, go the 35s keep them inside the guards and tell them
if pulled over its been like this for years and will cost you heaps to put it all back to legal and
that things are tight ATM with xmas coming up etc etc

The extra strain would be right mate! It can cause premature ware on bearings and seals, particularly the fronts, however these are for off road purposes only, the 33's will still be on for daily driving :)

What mine doesn't know wont hurt her...... but she always has a way of finding these things out, especially when it comes to car parts.... haha

Why such a offset? I'm sure mine are -22 and 35s fit with minor rubbing on full flex and I've only got a 2"lift

If they are offroad only go 37's

The car on the left is my GUIV running a 3" lift and a set of 315s. Loaded for touring when we did the Simpson in July this year. The rims a are 16x8 neg 22 I think and do not scrub and clear well. 16x10 seems excessive for a 315.

Thinking about it, the rear did bottom out and scrub the underside of the flare on the outer edge of the centre of the wheel arches on both sides, this seemed to happy when the car compressed level rather than cross flexed though. A 16x10 would be much worse.

I have a 3 inch flexi kit and 35's. I use 33's as dailys though. Only used my 35's three times since buying them back in March. But the 35's match the 3inch lift really good.it doesn't look over the top. 37's down here in Vic, you would be asking for trouble from the boys in blue. The 35's are still in the wrong but it's not real obvious with a 3inch lift.
35's and 3inch next to 33's and a sagged 3inch.

Like megatexture, my 35's are also on -22 rims and the stance looks 'choice, Bro', I reckon -44 is way too much offset but thats just my opinion.

Very similar to my rig.
I did find that the 35 (315) hankook's are a too big around town or towing and suck to much power trying to turn 'em so I will drop back to my 33 (305) Coopers for those applications

Yeah the 35's for daily was a strain on rig. Being a 3ltr and all. 285's for the road, coopers too, but are shite, for me. 285's and my speedo is spot on too.

I have 315's with a -22 offset on a 3 inch lift with no issues
