Hi All

Just been informed today that my Patrol's front wheel bearings have had it.
Any advice on changing them myself?
Is it much of a task?
I am thinking it is probably worthwhile doing the rear one too??

Advice is always welcome :)

Paul

Fronts are pretty straight forward if you have the tools. Its not reL hard to do. I think there is a write up somewhere here about doing the fronts. As for the rears. You need to press off the bearing carrier I suppose you call it. I haven't done the rear on mine yet. So im not sure on this.

Don't assume the front and rear both need doing mate. The rears are a bigger on and need a big press as stated. I have never swapped a rear out but had a good look at them and regreased them where needed.

Consider doing a front end swivel hub rebuild with your wheel bearings though for the win.

See tis thread I put together for all the info you need mate

hi paul
my advise is ,,
if you have to ask this question
then mabe its a learning curve to be taken carefully, nothing hard , just cleaning perfectly , repack em ,
the hard part for a novice is adjustment
as for rears
if they are not floating type
easy , just grind slip ring down , split with chisle , break outer bearing shell , grind inner shell bearing down ,, split with chisle , use water pipe to install new bearing & ring
no press needed
just a shifter , pliers , fencing wire ,.& yr back on the road the aussie way
cheers
