On a recent trip to Esperence (WA), we were discussing what was the most important equipment to have. After much discussion over drinks, we decided that the mattress/sleeping bag or what ever your arrangement is got the prize. if you can't sleep or rest properly, the rest of the trip becomes a nightmare. What do others think?:smilie_bett:

I think good bedding will make or break any holiday
Be that a good mattress or warm blankets
and a decent pillow

Reckon a few might change their mind given another decade or two! I’ll go with the comfy bed too. Gone are the days of thin bits of foam & a bottle of Stones.

A really comfortable oversized camping chair with foot rest and built-in drink cooler
Hmm I guess that's probably more of a nice extra than most important piece of equipment

Definitely warm sleeping bag, doesn't matter if you are sleeping on just the ground or rocks as long as you are warm. Nothing worse than a cold nights sleep, and trust me I've had a few.
no fire+no sleeping bag+up in the hills=man spooning ;)

i also have to go with the bed being decent, only because i have a bad back and can wake up very sore 20 times during the night if its not. other than that i would say the matches to light a fire.

This is how I light my fires, inbuilt peizo ignitor.....Still usually carry matches as a backup though, and a ciggie lighter.

Did forget it and all my other usuals for lighting fires last time I went out, ended up using the single gas cooker and some leaves ;)

A big tarp could be the difference between a good or bad weekend.
at least you can get under shelter if its only a brief shower..
the one we take is 18ft x 18ft with a 6 ft back wall, we use an old shade sail cut to size for a side wall
