Am new to the forum but have picked up some good tips so thought I should contribute something back. My GQ has never run well on gas, tried everything over five years and it misses all the time, sometimes not even under acceleration. Saw a tip on this forum that said the timing should be advanced further than the standard 10 degrees for petrol and about 12 or 13 degrees for gas (which was what it was set at). I put it out to between 17 and 20 degrees and it is fantastic, it doesn't miss anymore and pulls all the way through the rev range to red line with more power than before (not that they have much power). It pings a little on petrol but not so as you have a problem.
I also set the tappets at 16 thou, which seems to help a little also.
Such a simple fix.
