To all the members reporting the spam, thank you! We can't be everywhere but your reporting, especially when its embedded in someone's thread makes it easy for us to find. We will stay on top of it.
Thanks for your patience.

Link building in a roundabout way helps your website rank higher.
Although this type of link building is just crap and is not only little benefit but if caught by google can have your site blacklisted from their index.
It's called black hat Seo and is frowned upon by google.
In this era of online marketing and Seo your links should be from relevant industry websites.
Not a flower shop with links from a patrol forum.

So what are you doing, just banning the IP addy's?
None of those spam things I suggested work?
AB
22nd September 2014, 06:21 PM
Yeah I tried one I saw ok the site was one you suggested but it didn't do much and I'm just banning ip and ip range.
There's a few other things I can try out but I remember we tried a few of those other add ons a while ago and we started to restrict a lot of real members but ill check out options tonight.

Hey AB, not sure if you're able to but you need to lower the time for reporting posts..... Currently it's 60 seconds before you're allowed to report another post

Why cant new Members be made to post up a introduction which has to be accepted by a Mod before they can make a Post.
Required info :-
1. Model of Patrol
2. State of Australia or Country if outside of Australia
This would stop Spammers overnight

Maybe,it would stop them, maybe it wouldn't.
Humans are paid 2 link, I'm sure they would still answer those basic question just 2 make 1 more post to insert there link into.
I would prefer 2 see that linking is banned completely for members until they have reached 25 -50 post.
If a new member needs a link inserted into there post then they can pm admin / mod or report post there post that they want a link inserted into

My original suggestion of having new members post up a introduction (which does not allow Links or Posts in other areas) and then having to wait for a Mod to authorise would stop the Spammers coming in overnight and setting up Links. Also the suggestion of having to wait for 25 Posts before posting Links would be a great addition to my suggestion
