I'm in the market for some new rubber, decided on the bfg km2's 285/75/16. Trying to find a reasonably priced place to get them in Brisbane but the cheapest I have found them is $365 each at Hacketts where as in NSW I can get them for $275 each fitted and balanced from Tempe tyres. Am I missing something here as that is a significant difference?

Nope. Just buy the tyres from down south. Some offer free delivery. Even if somewhere charges you $50 per tyre to fit and balance you are still ahead.
Use those prices and ring around your locals. I have just been through this exercise and jax came in close enough that we used them they were ever so slightly more expensive than the nsw mobs but were easier for me logistic wise.

Reminds me when I was shopping around for 315's. I Remember ringing ARB. They want $495 a corner plus I need rims too. Such a big company one would have thought they would have some buying power for tyres.

Thanks guys, yeah I will ring around on Monday and see what I can find. Quite surprised by the price difference at almost $100 extra a tyre.

Hey macca how'd you find huntsman's service? They're is another thread going atm with conflicting feedback on their service.
I'm looking to get a set of 285 km2 - also does anyone know if you can run 16" rims on a 2008 GU Given the factory alloys are 17"
Cheers

Irun 16 inch rims on my gu4 that had 17 inch alloys with abs no problems. I had no problems with huntsman paid my cash got a phone call to confirm wheel offset. Then got a email from delivery service that they were on their way. Arrived in 4 days to my door. 3rd party delivery driver was a dick though but that's not huntsman fault

Ring them up if you can pick up and pay cash. When I was in the market they were the cheapest online and anywhere. I rang them and they even knocked off more on the price. Their rims put me off though. I decided to pay extra and get ROH rims instead.

Have you had issues with quality of the sunraisers before or did you just prefer the ROH?

Well the price of their rims were quite cheap. I had heard stories of the cheap rims separating apart. True or not, for the little extra I thought the ROH Sunraysia rims were a safer bet.

Ok so there had to be some kind of catch as I have ring around Brisbane and so far
$380 a tyre Bob Jane
$370 jaxquickfit
$360 Hacketts
$350 ace tyres
Nsw $275 fitted a tyre at the ones mentioned in an earlier post, why are we getting screwed in Qld? Surely there has to be some kind of logic to the massive price difference?

Check how thick the material is ,some cheap Chinese sunnies are only 3-4mm you want 6mm minimum, 8mm even better
