Hi All

We are look to buy our first 4x4 we are looking at the 2.8 GU patrols. Looking for advise, hints and tips on this. I am not mechanical minded so would be better if it had most of the basic things we will need on it. If anyone can shed some light on what I should be looking for in terms of basics must haves. That would be great.

Cheers in advance

Welcome heaps of advice, help and info here. I have a late 2002 GU 3 3.0ltr with some of the NADS
done ( catch can & intercooler upgrade ). It has only done 124,000 klms so far no problems.
Just look after it and get it serviced regularly and change oil every 5000 klms.
Cheers

Hi and welcome.

I have a GU 2.8

They're getting older. A lot of new 4wders get tempted (including myself) to buy because of the price. And they aren't all bad. You want a well maintained one though.

They hold their own out bush. Not a great town car, and towing zaps it's strength on the highway and out bush.

Am I selling mine? No. I'm getting to know it pretty well, and reliability is increasing. If I was to purchase again I would probably save more for a 4.2
