With my tax return in the bank, i am looking at a new suspension setup for my 89 GQ LWB. I'm currently running 2" OME setup installed by previous owner.
The ride is stiff on road and very harsh off-road...loaded or un-loaded. I'm more looking for a touring style set-up. Getting a tradesman trailer soon to tow, for camping purposes.
I have been looking at Koni 82s matched with King springs. But open to opinions and suggestions. Also would just swapping the springs first off to see what the happens to the ride be a good first move?

cheers in advance.

Hi mate,

I rate OME very very highly in a 2" lift on a GQ. First choice for me and first recommendation. do you have any details on what part numbers have been fitted by the previous owner?

You could certainly try some new springs first and id stick with OME but choose to suit your current state of vehicle in terms of load and use. There should be a part number of the shocks and maybe the springs too and you could cross check that with ARB.

Your current setup is properly designed to carry weight if it rides hard empty, don't do suspension changes before deciding your permanent weight eg draws, fuel tanks, bull bar, winch etc or you will get it wrong, if you can find the part numbers off the springs and shocks you can find out what weight ratings ARB designed them for off the net.
When I first got my car I swapped from kings to ARB because ARB rode much better.

Already set up with drawers, roof rack, bullbar & scrub bars. Load it up when we go camping or away. They are the old OME nitro chargers. And dont rate them at all, hence why they aren't even on my radar for the upgrade.
