Hi guys,
I bought 147l the long ranger fuel tank from ARB but I can only fit only 125l in. They told me this is normal. Any body has any experience?

Thanks Dan

Often you will never be able to use all the fuel in a tank, just simply due to where the pickup is located etc, but I would have thought that 22L is a bit excessive in residual fuel??

Nah i can fit more than that in mine. Give LRA a call who make the tank and ask them what could cause that.

I'd say the suction tube doesn't reach the bottom of the tank, did you install it yourself?

The guys from ARB installed for me. Why it would be call 147l if you can use only 125l? I spoke to general manager from Long ranger and he need to talk to some body else as well to find out what is wrong but he believe this doesn't sound right, I will keep you post it.

Thanks for your advice

To give you an idea I never fill mine until the light comes on as I like to keep track of my usage. I could drive 30 or 40 kms after the light comes on and still only put in 125 to 130 lt and mine has a 5 lt dent in it.

The GQ has a 15lt dent in it :p

I usually fill up around 950 km around town and put about 120-130 lt in at that point it's been on empty at gauge for at least 50 km. Depending on load etc. If I fill just as it hits empty it's about the 125 lt around town, have you run the car till empty or just going off the gauge ?
The standard 95 lt nissan tank had 20 lt left when the gauge hits empty

I have the 147l tank... I have at times put up to 138l in. How empty have you run your tank down?? When my low fuel light comes on I still have about 30l in the tank....

Yes I run the car till empty twice and both times exactly 125l, if I put in135l I will be happy I guess, my standard tank that I had before was 75l and I put in 75l , my mate have land cruiser with 180l tanks and puts in 182l, I just don't get it

Sounds like this to me.

get a large container that hold 30 odd litres and undo the drain bung and empty it fully then go fill the tank, i still have about 50 ltrs when the light comes on.

The Long Ranger 147 tanks hold pretty much spot on 147 litres.

I fitted one to my Ute a few months ago.
The Ute and my Wagon both hold, you guessed it, 147 litres +/_ a tad

When you fit them you have to make sure the fuel pick up is "extended" to get to the bottom of the tank or at least I did.
This is because the tank depth from flange to bottom is deeper on the Long Ranger than the Factory Jobbie.
The pick up is telescopic and is easily set up for the extra inch or so required.

To see if this is your problem, run the tank to empty then see how much more drains out (as suggested by others)
OR
pull the tank gauge and pick up assy out and check it reaches the bottom

I note your comment about previously having a 75 litre main tank.
What exact model are we talking about here as that is an odd number to me, I thought most factory mains are 95 ish litres

So I filled mine up tonight. The light came on 300m from the servo and it took 127 lt to fill. This gives me a 20lt fuel light and over 100kms on th light if needed.

If you are getting 125 into it then I think your about right. The light is worth at least 100kms. Put a jerry in the back and drive until you run out or don't pump the sub across until you run out. Your sub is 30. Run dry, pump the sub to get you to fuel and fill up less 30 and that will tell you for sure.

Note your old tank was 95lt not 75lt if it was a Nissan rear tank on a wagon.
