I witnessed something I thought was rather neat. Chatting with another Patrol driver we bumped into today, he had a intercooler water spray setup. He utilized a wiper spray system, but the spray nozzles point to the intercooler, and nozzles swapped to fine mist type. He claims when car is under load and EGT's begin climbing this thing drastically reduces the EGT's at the flick of a button. Has a 3L tank stashed somewhere out of the engine bay to keep it cooler...
And hes apparently building an automatic system, hooked up to his EGT gauge somehow and with a few simple bits and pieces from Jaycar, hes gonna have it kick in automatically at preset EGT temps.

I've personally never seen this type of setup before, and don't know how effective it really is, but this guy swears by it. Thought it was cool though.

Nice idea, not seen it before but I have herd of it previously but seriously how much difference could 3 ltrs do.
all that effort would probably be better put into a front mount or a water/air setup

Yeah tis the same logic as a Water to Air setup except with the W/A setup the water recirculates and has another cooler.

Water is very efficient at removing Heat from Air. In a W/A system though you can use Glycol for better efficiency again.

Or just use water injection.

I have looked into this however when off road imagine how much mud would build up on the intercooler from the water and dust.. I personally like the water injection into the intake as well

Some family friends had a rally car in the late 90's they raced a WRX, they used ice water and did the same thing.
