Hi
I was hoping some of the members could give me some advice on how to fix a couple of slow leaks (weeps?) and if I can do it myself or need to take it to a garage with special tools. I was under my Patrol last week (2011 GU 3.0L cab chassis) and noticed some oil on the transfer case and transmission. I degreased under the car and then drove it for a week to see where the leaks were coming from.
They appear to be from 1) Transfer case bolts 2) Transfer Case fill plug and 2) Transmission fill plug. I have attached some photos of the leaks below

Just bumping this to the top.......
Is it still under warranty?

Thanks Clunk.
It has 113,000km on the odometer so is out of new car warranty. It does have an additional 3 year extended warranty (KaCare). But I just checked the small print and while it covers mechanical components it specifically excludes oil leaks.

Have you tried to re-torque the bolts and plugs?

Thanks Scorpiovee
Double checked, Tranfer case bolts (47.5Nm) and both Filler plugs (34Nm) are at the upper limit of their correct torque settings (41-48Nm and 25-34Nm respectively)

How long before the leaks appeared had the driveline been serviced?
With some luck, it may just be some residual fluid from the service and not a leak.
Fingers crossed

Just put some sealant on the threads. Job done, I do that with mine

Thanks for your suggestions. Transfer case & transmission fluids were changed in May. I was hoping that the weep from the fill plugs was from this.
A dab of sealant on the ends of the transfer case bolt threads sounds like a simple fix. What sealant do you suggest?

Clawrence,
Not sure if a dab of sealant on the end of the bolts will do much.
I would take out one at a time, put sealant on the thread of the bolt and in the hole too, and that will make sure of it.
Just go to your local auto store and grab some Loctite or Permatex sealant that is temperature and oil resistant..... that will do the trick

Hi aaron
If it is the same bolts in my pictures above, when I did mine I followed the advice of happy gu in the post above yours. I removed one bolt at a time, put a dab of permatex on the thread, did it back up, then moved onto the next bolt until I had done them all. No fluid came out.
