Hey all, I've put an Anderson plug on the bullbar. Just a question about connectors. The lead coming from the anderson plug is, as far as I can tell and I'm no auto elec, 8mm. It's pretty much the standard guage wire that comes with the anderson plug.

I've been to SCA and Jaycar but can't find connectors that take like 8mm wire. The biggest I can find is 5-6mm connectors.

So do I just trim to make it fit or are there larger wire connectors out there somewhere? Also is 25amp fuse ok or should it be bigger, like 30amp?

I just want to hook up the trickle charger and maybe use it for the air compressor or the like.

Thanks for any advice.
Paul

Have a look in here mate

The fuse size depends on what your amps your drawing.

Do you mean these in a 8 mm? To match the Anderson plug gauge ?

Sorry guys, should explain it properly. I've run the leads back to the battery and the negative goes to the negative on the battery, no problems. But I need to add in the inline fuse, currently 25amp micro wedge fuse waterproof. The fuse lead is like 4mm and the lead from the anderson plug is like 8mm. Too big to just run straight into the run of the mill electrical connector. What I'm after is a way to add the inline fuse in. Then all I do is attach it to the battery, think I know what to do there. The connectors I was looking for are like this -

You may have to use a "cable link". I have used these.
Available at Electrical wholesalers. John Turks has a good range.
They are not insulated, I insulated them using self amalgamating tape.
Or Jaycar do a screw joiner, it uses a clear plastic tube that slides over it for insulation.

You could use a inline maxi blade fuse, you can get them at super cheap also http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NARVA-IN-LINE-MAXI-BLADE-FUSE-HOLDER-DUAL-BATTERY-SYSTEM-WEATHERPROOF-NEW-54414-/290938419367

Then its only like 2 mm difference and might be easier to get fittings to work

you could also buy a POS battery clamp that has an extra 5/16th bolt on it for accessories.

I recently got ARB to fit an Anderson plug on my bullbar for battery charging purposes.
No more opening bonnets.

Bit hard to tell as I had bit done that day.
But I didn't pay for an earth strap or the Anderson plug itself or the dust cover.

I like to use ABR sidewinder mate, an auto reset circuit breaker is always the best option I have been told, and used for many years without any problems.
