Been reading up as to what I need but want your opinions for my 2005 gu 4 td42ti
I've settled on Gulf Western TopDog XDO oil I can get 20l drums for 110 each
What would you guys do for filters and where do you source them from and what cost

Is that good for filters?
Also do you really do filters every 5000km or will every 10000km be fine bearing in mind 90% or more of my driving is computing to work about 30 to 50 mins each way

I always pay to have mine serviced, due to my lack of knowledge.
The mechanic uses:
BP multifleet 15W-40 oil
2 x Z503 oil filters
1 x Z332 fuel filter
1 x 16546 VCIOA air filter
and charges $5 for oil disposal fee
Mine's a 2005 4.2 TDi ute and gets serviced every 10,000k.
I love keeping on the bitumen (90-95%) and rarely go off road, but do occasionally accept the challenges of dirt roads. lol.

To keep your vehicle tip top, best to change oil and oil filters every 5k but I'm sure going past that on the odd occasion won't hurt, fuel filter every 10k. I use Ryco filters sourced through someone I know at Auto Pro and use Penrite 15w50 HPR diesel oil which I get from wherever it's on special, last time was for Supercrap for around $70 for 10ltrs. Can't remember how much I payed fr the filters but with out hunting for the receipt I think it was around $50-60 for 2 oil filters and 1 fuel filter.

I've always used genuine filters on all my vehicles. Mostly change at 5k as mine is always towing or 4x4. If you find a good genuine parts supplier the price is not that much different to the non oem ones. I get Delo 400 for $120 for 20l but of course mine's a 3l weapon...lol

Ouch my delo supply was 98 for 20 L.
Clunk sounds like my prices are ok might just do oil every 5000km and filters every 10000km

Shop around a little mate. Check places like maxiparts and any Donaldson or fleet guard agents.
I do mine religiously every 5000k. That's oil, oil filters, fuel filter. Air filter depending how im feeling will also be done every 5k or at the most 10k. I can get My oil and fuel filters for about $35. Doing all at 5000k isn't all bad Im at 340k still on original fuel pump, injectors etc but its entirely up to you.

Diesel fitter at work really recommended it several people on the other forum seem settled on it and $110 for 20 L isn't a bad price for a premium oil

Yeh I've been running the Gulf Western Auto Trans fluid since my rebuild and my old man uses it for his auto. My old man is an ex diesel mechanic so I know if he uses it, it must be good

What oil are you using? And can I buy my parts off you even if you mark up your price for your effort

Im currently using mobil delvac 15w-40 as I can get it for $90-$100 for 20L. Prior to that I was using Shell rimula as I could get it for $70 for 20L from the girls workplace at the time. Mate I would be happy to order it for you and grab it, If we do that it would make life easier if we ordered in bulk.
