Hi Guy's,
I have a GU 2010 and i am about to put on a 3 Inch Exhaust to help keep her cool. There seem's to be so many options out there, i am just wondering is there some better than others? should i buy one with a catalytic converter or without.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Renee

legally you should keep a cat on it as there are big fines if you are caught without it, having said that I’ve never known anyone that has been caught or even tested.

I was pulled over a while back in a roadside rta block and they crawled under my car. While they didn't say anything I assumed they were looking for a cat. So there's always a chance.

try a beudesert 2.75 inch hiflow cat save yourself a lot of grief. some not all exhibit overboost issues with the 3 inch system. and I don't know of any with the beudesert system having these issues.

What Kevin said. I have 2011 with 3" and had endless issues. Thanks to Mudski and Kevin am now sorted out after nearly 2 years of boost issues.
By the way Kev, I still owe you that KISS

I have a 2011 and a 3" Taipan exhaust with cat and resonator and have never had an issue, apart from breaking a mounting lug due to not being aligned correctly. Never had boost issues.
Is not as loud as other 3" exhaust IMO.

So are you saying that a 3 inch exhaust system causes the turbo spikes? and that's why you need the dawes valve?

I have this fitted to my 2006 3.0 DI. Works a treat and is trouble free. They fitted it while I had a coffee. My nephew had one shipped to him in Newcastle, and it fitted first up.

I just finished fitting a DEA 3" exhaust to my 08 patrol with cat sounds good had a hard time removing the old one.(that's what took most of the time) every thing fitted fine except one bracket near the auto gear box.
Took it for a drive it is a lot more responsive no turbo lag now.

Got a 3" Genie SS on my 2009 and love it. Sounds soo sweet and noticed it even pull a bit harder. Have had no issues with it at all.

Thought I'd add something to this. As my car's been at the mechanic and dyno over the last week or so, while I was there I bumped into a bloke with a 2013 CRD cab, manual.
He had endless issues with turbo spiking and limp mode with a 3" exhaust, and in the end the shop where he got it done, dropped it down to a 2.75, and hasn't had a problem since...
This bloke is older and isn't too technically involved under the hood, so he had no clue about dawes valves and such at the time. This could have ironed out his problems quickly. It just seems to me that some CRD's are too sensitive to 3" than others, on some it works perfectly and others not so. The dyno guy showed me a few charts of factory CRD's, and the default boost control is absolutely S***! It is just a mess of zigzagging lines all over the place... Adding a exhaust just multiplies the problem without some boost control.

That's right, it's hard to believe that such small difference in exhaust size can make a difference in how the ECU responds.

I have a 2.75 Beaudesert pipe, and a wastegate actuator system setup.

I have a 3" system with cat to keep it legal, to my 03 GU. I have fitted NADS to it as well. It has made the troll a much more pleasant beast to drive, it pulls much better in 4 th & 5th now. It took a while to tune the needle valve to suit my driving style but it was worth the fiddling around.

I think a 2.5" system will transform your 4.8, similar to having another gear
and a bit of a note as a bonus

Yes I cant see why not exactly the same motor, as long as both auto or both manual

The pipe may route differently , but a visual check should confirm fitting.
ring an exhaust shop see if its the same part number
Just checked on ebay and they don't specify manual
or auto so by that I would take it they would fit
