Haha, You blokes are a lough..lol

I'm trying to have a drive around to find something decent but at this stage I have no time at all to do that. My priority is to get the shack refurbed before my family gets here and then I'm spraying like crazy...LOL I don't think I will have enough time to do that either..oops

I have a month off from mid Jan to mid Feb so I'll have a look at some tracks before the meet. Don't stress ladies:)

Ohhh and you're on Jonno...bwahahaha

Cheers Kris that why I was suggesting that those that can find some good tracks via the vast media network then do as I know you have heaps on and to also have any spare time trying to find good tracks is easier said then done.

So those that are good at google detective work and can come up with some tasty tracks then the suggestions are welcome.

I am not sure at this stage if my family is coming and will know more when the girls get back from Italy.

With this many people I think we would need to invest some shovel time and build some drop dunnys. At least two of em. We will need at least two or maybe even three bags of lime, two dunny seats, some logs and some canvas (for walls) as well as a foul ground sign for when we fill it in later.

Cheers,

Rob

For the shitters I have an enclosed long drop there but I would rather dig big 300+ mm wide holes with a post hole digger for personalized shitters...LOL. just bring a seat and a cover.
Otherwise mine will be unusable once Andy gets in there...LOL
Shower will be available in a shower tent but you'll need to boil you water..:) I have 20-40l on the boil most of the time though

I actually did last time I was there by accident. My main track was shut as forestries were buiding a bridge so I went around and it was pissing down and found one track with some steep climbs...nearly didn't get up it but I was full load with trailer...good old locka...LOL

The track is flat range fire trail and I only drove a small section of it so yeah...we'll be right. You can see how steep some of that area is

(In a David Attenborough voice)

Here we have a very rare and exciting sight. It has the Latin name Y-usSixtyonus, commonly known as a GU, far away from it's natural habitat of woolies carpark,

Easily spooked, unfamiliar with its surrounds, and not in the company of the farus superious, or the Gq (the more dominant of the species) it seems to have been spooked by a potential predator.

As the GU has evolved their hearts have become weaker and their life expectancy reduced thus rendering them inefficient at any form of attact. But to cater for this evolutionarg downfall, they like to bury themselves in mud to form an excellent anchor and raise their bonnet in an attempt to make themselves look bigger and warn off scavenger predators like the toyotus sukkus who are powerless to shift the GU once it is buried.

In time this juvenile GU will escape the bog whether it under its own steam (although rare) or usually with the help of the GQ, and return home to the concrete jungle where it is much closer to the top of the food chain

Ill have a heap of wood ready so probably no need for another saw. Thanks for the offer too:)
The Braidwood side drive is a really nice drive too. See you guys there

Yep looks like I will be in too, thought bout time I finally committed, it's coming up rather quickly!!

Bloody good turn out can't wait should be awesome. Going to suss out some leave when I'm back in at work on Monday, but will probably spend a bit of time either side, rough plan of heading up through Erinunderra again, then back through the coast via Mallacoota.

Yeah I will start to make some plans soon starting from working out when to leave, Thursday sounds good tho. Awesome country round the south east so figured may as well make the most of it. Cruising through Erinunderra National Park on the way back from Canberra last time was awesome, wouldn't mind doing a bit of exploring in that neck of the woods.

Ok, I forgot the directions...lol

.....I assume everyone gen get to Captains flat so from there

Head east 9.5km on Captains Flat Rd(towards Braidwood)and turn right to South Forest Rd .
Head south 14.7km and turn/veer right onto South Forest Rd (same road )
Head southwest 2.5km and turn right to Cowangerong Fire Trail
Head north 1.5km and turn left to Tumanang Trail
Head west 1.6km and turn left into driveway (top gate)
keep driving till you reach paradise...LOL

Now, all tracks are sign posted and I will also put up "NissanPatrol.com.au"signs

If coming from Braidwwod you would go down Cooma Rd then onto Captains Flat Rd then you would be turning left onto South Forest Rd . The turn off is 40km from Braidwood.

Let me know if its not easy to understand and I'll punch you in the neck...LOL...just kidding let me know:)

Yes AB those roads are slow going once you turn of the beaten track... takes nearly as long to drive the distance from the Hume to the property than it does to drive up the Hume from Melbourne.

I've done these tracks and they are an awesome drive but not too hard at all. More of a turisty drive from memory..

Never heard of the Clarke Brothers lookout but sounds interesting as I've read a fair bit about them. They used to hide out at Crow Valley then they buid a cop shop at Wild Cattle Flat about 6km away to catch them...LOL They got them eventually.

Coming up via the Hume is the shortest way to Captains Flat via the Barton Hwy turnoff from Yass?
Not so much worried about distance, more concerned by traveling time as I'll have a couple of grand-kids with me at this stage.

No idea why I'm watching this but it ends in 10 minutes so if someone wants it then buy it and I can deliver it to the meet up.

10minutes left 99 cents, impulse buyers beware!

Look at this on eBay:

Gas bottle rack, camping gas bottle holder, camper trailer rack

Wow the guy just got back to me from Captains Flat and remembers my grandad well and even lived in the same street.. He has a tonne of tracks for us to do and I will ring him soon to discuss.

He has mentioned some..... Bendethra on the Deua River or any of those tracks? Wybene Caves, The Big Hole? Clarke Brothers Lookout?

Looks like I have sold my rifle and will bring it up with me and meet the bloke first hand and look over a map with him..... bloody funny him knowing my grandad... Eddy yeah I know Eddy...

No good Mego, it's going to be a ripper trip. Getting quite exited now Deua River, the Big Hole and Wyanbane Caves are supposed to be pretty cool. Fairly criusy tracks but pretty interesting and beautiful scenery by the sounds of it. I'm getting some paper maps off my folks which I'll bring up.

Time off's been sorted, head up Thursday camp on the way, then home via Batemans Bay and the coast, back at work the following Monday :) Giddy Up!!

I can't wait Rossco,if you can get maps that would be great its been a while since I've been that way. We should take off early one day and do the caves and the big hole.

Anyone that is heading to the coast I would recomend going through Araluen to Maruya which will cover Deua river, Bendethra, Merricumbene Fire Trail. This would be an awesome drive !

Bring it on!!

Whos the 6 in your bus Nico?

the extra stuff will go in the trailer, dale and adrian will fit their own gear in their own car and all phil and stacey need is a tent, a swag, and sleeping bags, were providing those, they are new to camping. so all they need is pillows lol. we can cater for 4 people in our usual pack =D

As if everyone brought their own I would be over loaded everytime, so what if you forget

Bloody Oath bring it on, can't wait!! The Big Hole and the caves look really cool will definitely have to make a day of it. The Olds were going to do the Merricumbene Trail but woosed out as they are pretty lame !!!! Nah seriously don't think it's too hard but the scenery sounds bloody beautiful, plenty of swimming spots too. I'll grab maps this weekend.

I just realised a slight problem and need a cheap and nasty temporarily (but effective) solution!

Now that the guards are cut the original mud flaps won't fit.

The rear bar that Rossco and I are making will not be done in time for the trip.

How do I temporarily get some rear flaps on?

Just to get there and back, remove them when at camp if need be.

AB
6th January 2015, 06:00 PM
Can run a piece of shs mounted to the exhaust mount on the lhs maybe.

Right hand side???

Maybe just run some angle under the front bolt of the rear bar return?

That'll work!

what about something like this AB? wouldn't be too hard to knock something like this up with stuff you have laying around your backyard?

Thanks guys,
Been putting it off for a while now but a mate got done for no mudflaps so thought I better do something about it.
Had a scrounge around the shed and all I could find was 2 bits of different sized RHS that happened to fit together nicely and came up with the following removable set up.

When I done the quater chop I welded 3mm plate to fill in the bottom of it which is quite strong so
I used that as a mounting point.
